Ginger works on one kind of nausea

Ginger is not a cure-all and I would rather tell you where it actually works. Motion sickness is the one everybody repeats and the one with the weakest support. If it helps you on a boat, keep doing it. Just know the evidence is thin. Pregnancy nausea is where it genuinely holds up. That is the one place it has been looked at properly and come out well, and it matters for anyone in a first trimester who cannot keep anything down. The amount that was actually used: about a gram a day, split into three or four smaller doses across the day rather than all at once. And the honest part: that was standardised powder or capsules. Not tea. A mug of ginger tea is lovely and is nowhere near that amount, so drink it because it is warm and it settles you, not because you think you are dosing. A kitchen thing worth knowing: drying and heating ginger changes its chemistry. The compound that makes fresh ginger sharp turns into a different one when dried. Ground and fresh are genuinely not the same ingredient. Neither is better. If you are pregnant or on blood thinners, run it past your doctor first.
