The email God sent me in January

In January I prayed for one thing. Clarity. I was miserable. I was performing. The two can coexist for a long time before one of them wins. For close to a year, performance was winning and I kept thinking that was enough. I did a fast with my church at the start of the year. I was not asking God to open a door. I was asking him to show me what I already knew. Two or three weeks after the fast ended, I got an email. The subject line was: Clarity and Alignment Moving Forward. I am not making that up. The email was both a blessing and a challenge. What I heard underneath the text wasn't the sender's voice. I believe it was the Holy Spirit directing my steps. When you pray for clarity and God gives it to you, it does not always arrive wrapped the way you expected. I had been telling leaders for years to name what is not working and do something about it. I had to apply that to myself. By March, I was no longer there. If you have been asking for clarity and what you are receiving feels inconvenient, read it again more carefully.
