Mon 9/28 — Most organizations already spend money on this

Most organizations already spend money on this problem. They spend it in the wrong place... The wellness benefit. The resilience workshop. The assistance program no senior leader will ever use, because using it means putting something in writing about yourself inside a system you are trying to lead. None of that is wasted exactly. It is aimed at a different problem. Those programs help people cope with pressure, and the leaders I work with do not have a coping deficit. They have coped brilliantly for twenty years. Coping is precisely what got them here. What they need is different. Their authority was worn down inside environments that demanded constant adaptation, and nothing since has deliberately rebuilt it. Restoring it is structured work at the level where it was actually lost, and it is confidential in a way an internal program cannot be. That is why I named the category Executive Authority Recovery rather than calling this coaching. The distinction matters most to whoever is making the buying decision. Choose a resilience program for a leadership team that is already far too resilient and you will get a respectable survey score and no change in behavior.
