Mon 9/21 — Why I wrote this book (BOOK 1 of 2)
Something I have carried for years is getting closer to becoming a book. It began as my own story. It became a great deal larger than that. Over time I started to recognize how experiences from early in my life created patterns that followed me into adulthood, into my relationships, and into the way I lead. Over-functioning. People-pleasing. Hypervigilance. Difficulty setting boundaries. Anticipating conflict before it arrives. Questioning yourself when your own record says you are more than capable. For years I understood those as parts of my personality. They were not. They were patterns I learned in order to survive. The book follows that journey. Recognizing the patterns, understanding what they were quietly costing, and finally reclaiming the voice, the self-trust, the boundaries and the personal authority that get worn down along the way. It is also the story behind the RECLAIM Leadership Framework®, and why I believe leadership transformation often begins long before anyone walks into a boardroom. As I get closer to putting this in your hands, I will be sharing more. The story itself, the six patterns I identified, and what it actually means to move from surviving to reclaiming. This is more than my story. My hope is that somewhere in these pages someone recognizes her own, and understands that the patterns which helped her survive do not have to decide how she leads. The book is coming. I am finally ready to share it.
